Gulf war escalation as Iran defies Donald Trump surrender demands

Iran has continued to lash out at the Gulf States and Israel, striking a major oil refinery in Kuwait and warning it ‘will not surrender.’

It comes as the war appears to be escalating with America demanding capitulation and Iran digging in, determined to drag the rest of the region into the conflict.

Firefighters have battled to control blazes at the state-run Kuwait Petroleum Corp as US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb more bridges and electric power plants. And an Iranian attack also hit an electricity and water desalination plant in Kuwait, resources which are vital for the civilian population. Emergency teams and emergency crews are responding alongside security authorities.

There are also reports that early intelligence assessments of Iran’s missile capability may not have been as badly hit as previously thought. It is now suspected the country may still have almost half its original supply of launchers and missiles.

A US strike on a bridge connecting Tehran to the city of Karaj killed eight people and injured almost 100 according to Iran. The American bombing run split the bridge in half, causing widespread chaos in the area and Trump said his military: ‘…hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran.

At least 1,300 people have been killed in Lebanon, and 19 have died in Israel. Thirteen U.S. service members have been killed, and two more died of noncombat causes.

The British RAF Regiment contingent in northern Iraq is on permanent standby to intercept incoming Iranian missiles and drones. They have shot down dozens of drones in the past few weeks with their Rapid Sentry ground to air defence system.

In Lebanon war has continued to rage with Israeli airstrikes hitting targets across the south of the country and all the way to Beirut. The crisis has sparked a major refugee crisis with at least a million people displaced, sparking tension in cities.
