King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish

Ingredients:

1 package (12 rolls) King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 cup fruit preserves (your choice of flavor, optional)

Directions:

Prepare the Rolls:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Without separating the rolls, carefully slice through the middle to create a top and bottom layer, similar to slicing a loaf of bread. Place the bottom layer in a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make the Cheesecake Filling:
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Danish:
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom layer of the rolls. If desired, dot small spoonfuls of fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese layer. Gently place the top layer of rolls back on, aligning them with the base.
Bake to Perfection:
Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the filling is set.
Add the Glaze:
While the rolls bake, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls after they come out of the oven.
Serve and Enjoy:
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Pull them apart for individual portions and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Baking Time: 25 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes
Kcal: ~230 per serving | Servings: 12

Helpful Tips:

Flavor Variations: Add a pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest to the cream cheese mixture for an extra flavor boost.
Storage Tip: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven for a freshly baked feel.
