Pre-Dawn Torpedo Attack Targets USS Abraham Lincoln, U.S. Strike Group Responds Without Panic…

In the early hours of the morning, a tense situation reportedly unfolded in the Arabian Sea when Iranian submarines allegedly launched torpedoes toward the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). The incident, said to have occurred around 3:40 a.m., briefly disrupted the quiet waters before the U.S. carrier strike group reacted swiftly to the threat.

Defense sources claim that two diesel-electric submarines quietly moved into position, using the heavy flow of commercial shipping in the area as cover. After reaching firing range, the submarines reportedly released several heavyweight torpedoes aimed along the carrier’s projected path. The tactic appeared designed to take advantage of both the crowded maritime environment and the darkness before dawn. However, escorting destroyers within the strike group quickly detected unusual acoustic signals through their passive sonar systems, identifying the presence of incoming torpedoes. Alarms were immediately triggered across the formation.
In response, the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) carried out a practiced evasive maneuver while support ships deployed acoustic decoys and activated anti-torpedo countermeasures to confuse and divert the weapons. Officials stressed that the response was calm and coordinated, reflecting extensive training for underwater threats in contested waters.
